Birthday girl Kat flies off to Italy

katrina

Katrina turns 25 today. And today, she will be fulfilling a long cherished dream. Katrina is immensely proud of one thing about herself. "I am a good daughter, I hear Cancerians generally are. If that is true, I hope to get a Cancerian daughter some day," she had told DNA.

Today, Katrina is proving that once again. It's been a dream to take her mother and her siblings (one brother and six sisters) to a resort in south Italy. The family has been planning to go there for years now. But its Katrina's busy schedule for the last two-and-half years that has been keeping them from doing so.

The family had apparently even booked tickets to go to the resort last Christmas. Katrina had requested for a 10-day off from her producers. But she had to cancel it last minute as she was requested to do a music video for New York and shoot some portions of her films, De Dhana Dhan and Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani. But this time, Katrina made sure that none of their plans go awry.

After all, a joint holiday meant adjusting of schedules of her mother and seven siblings--her brother, who's in London, mum who is in Chennai and her five older sisters, who are scattered around the world and Isabelle, her younger sister.

Confirming the same, before flying off for her holiday, Katrina says, "Yes, I am glad, finally we have been able to manage to get together and go for this long looked forward to holiday. I don't need to say I am going to have a blast."

Kat's brother Michael Kaif is an adventure enthusiast and is a professional rock climber and skier. So, apart from Katrina, it's Michael who is most difficult to be pinned down for a holiday. Mum Marie has a charity foundation in Madurai. Sister Isabelle, though in London completing her studies, hopes to come to Mumbai soon to live with Kat and pursue a career in films. The family last had a holiday together six years back.

This day last year
Katrina's birthday last year can be easily considered one of the significant days in the history of Bollywood, as two superstars, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan decided to get their animosity out and fight it out in the open, presumably over the television shows that they were respectively hosting. In the process, a lot of simmering issues came out in the fore.

It was After Hrs that Salman Khan chose to speak to after the fight. He had said, "I won't deny that there is a problem between us. There has been this kind of animosity between us for a long time. In fact, this is the third time we have fought. We have tried being friends, but it just doesn't seem possible. We are different people. We are two different individuals. He may be a great person, but his values and scruples are not the same as mine. I can't continue being a buddy to someone I don't get along with. I am not the kinds who would pretend to be great friends with someone..."

True to his word, even today, Salman and Shah Rukh remain foes. A surprise development however, was later Aamir Khan decided to side with Salman (considering that Aamir and SRK were anyway not in great terms).

Then they dramatically came together for a cause, to support the producers during the standoff between the producers and multiplex owners. Akshay Kumar, who generally works individually, also started showing signs of support towards Salman, which he maintains even today. Shah Rukh on his part mended his relationship with the Bachchans.
